The Challenge

As a fast-paced, customer-driven retailer, the organisation was determined to invest in leadership capability to meet growing business demands.

Following significant investment in systems, technology, and global processes, the business recognised an opportunity to shift its focus toward people leadership. The Managing Director’s goal was clear: create a culture of alignment, empowerment, and accountability across every level of leadership.

The brief called for a programme that would resonate with both Store and Regional Managers, as well as the wider leadership community, equipping them with practical tools to lead with clarity, empathy, and confidence.

Our Solution:

Inspirational Group partnered with the client to design and deliver Developing Your Leaders, a multi-level, role-relevant leadership programme that addressed the specific challenges and responsibilities of managers across the organisation.

The programme combined facilitated workshops, practical exercises, and behavioural profiling through DISC to help participants develop self-awareness, communication agility, and a shared leadership language.

The programme featured:

Module 1: Store Managers

Focused on essential leadership skills such as communication, delegation, and followership dynamics. Participants explored strategies to improve team collaboration and performance in day-to-day operations.

Module 2: Regional Managers

Emphasised deeper self-awareness through DISC, strengthening understanding of team preferences and leadership impact. Modules covered collaboration, followership, and time management to enhance regional performance.

Module 3: Senior Leadership Team

Provided a holistic overview of the programme, helping senior leaders align on expectations and reinforce a unified leadership approach across all levels.

Module 4: HQ Team

Delivered a bespoke two-day session focused on relationship-building, problem-solving, and stakeholder management, ensuring leadership alignment extended beyond stores and into the organisation’s central functions.

Impact

The programme exceeded all targets and expectations. Leaders reported greater confidence, stronger communication, and an improved understanding of their colleagues’ perspectives. Across all cohorts, participants gained practical, actionable skills they could apply immediately.

The ripple effect of these changes was seen in higher morale, better collaboration, and improved team performance.

Key Results:

  • Greater confidence and self-awareness among leaders.
  • Stronger communication and delegation across store and regional levels.
  • Clearer alignment between leadership levels and organisational goals.
  • Tangible improvements in team performance and morale.
  • A renewed sense of purpose and motivation, particularly among those previously struggling with leadership confidence.
  • “One of the best training sessions I have been to. A safe space to say how we felt.”
    Participant, Retail
  • “The sessions were a revelation.  From the start I felt comfortable and that meant I could open up and dive in where normally I may lack confidence.”
