The Challenge
A global automotive manufacturer launched a new leadership development framework built around six interconnected skill lines. The organization needed a dedicated Change, Transformation and Innovation skill line that would operate as a coherent strand within that wider architecture.
The brief was demanding. The programme needed to serve three distinct leadership maturity levels, from emergent leaders navigating day-to-day change through to strategic leaders shaping enterprise-wide transformation. It needed to deliver consistently across global regions, connect conceptual rigour with practical application, and contribute directly to an enterprise-wide transformation strategy.
The core challenge was not just design. It was building something capable of landing with consistency and credibility across a complex, globally distributed leadership population of 16,000.
Our Solution
Inspirational Group designed and delivered a Change, Transformation and Innovation skill line embedded within the organization’s global leadership framework. Structured across three maturity levels, Essential, Advanced and Mastery, the programme ensured progressive capability development for emergent, experienced and strategic leaders respectively.
The design drew on behavioural science, systems thinking and practical experimentation. Rather than building theoretical knowledge in isolation, the programme connected learning directly to live business challenges, ensuring that capability development translated into immediate application.
Each level built on the last, creating a coherent development pathway from foundational change capability through to enterprise-wide transformation leadership and cultural architecture.
Essential Level: Foundations of Change
For emergent leaders, this level built foundational change capability, developing practical tools to navigate complexity and accelerate adoption across their teams. The focus was on clarity, confidence and early application, equipping leaders to guide themselves and others through transition effectively.
Advanced Level: Driving Cross-Functional Transformation
For experienced leaders, this level strengthened the ability to lead transformation across functions. Drawing on behavioural science and systems thinking, leaders developed the skills to challenge assumptions, address resistance and design effective interventions. Applied learning sessions enabled leaders to test frameworks against live transformation challenges in real time.
Mastery Level: Cultural Architecture and Innovation Leadership
For strategic leaders, this level focused on developing the role of cultural architect and innovation sponsor. AI-enabled diagnostics supported sense-checking, risk analysis and pattern recognition, strengthening data-informed decision-making. The emphasis was on role modelling, sponsorship and embedding innovation-led transformation across the global leadership community.
Impact
The programme built structured, scalable change and innovation capability across one of the world’s most complex leadership populations. Leaders at every maturity level gained applied tools, strengthened sponsorship behaviours and contributed directly to live transformation initiatives.
The integration of behavioural science, applied experimentation and AI-supported diagnostics ensured that development activity remained grounded in strategic priorities and aligned to measurable outcomes.
Key Results:
