Endure, Inspire, Lead: Why IG is Supporting Invictus Atlantic in the World’s Toughest Row
At Inspirational Group, we believe that true leadership emerges in the face of challenge. That’s why we are proud to sponsor Invictus Atlantic, a remarkable team of four individuals taking on the challenge of rowing 3,000 nautical miles in The World’s Toughest Row Race.
Starting in December 2024, the Invictus Atlantic crew will embark on this grueling journey, rowing day and night, battling physical exhaustion, 40-foot waves, and sleep deprivation, all while remaining united by one cause: raising awareness and funds for adolescent mental health through the Invictus Trust.
A Mission That Matters
The Invictus Trust, based in Cornwall, was founded in memory of Ben Cowburn, a young man who tragically lost his life after battling mental health challenges. Dedicated to supporting young people like Ben, the Trust raises awareness of adolescent mental health, campaigns for better services, and provides critical resources for those in need.
Over the years, the charity has made a significant impact, including helping establish the Sowenna Under-18 Mental Health Unit in Bodmin, the first of its kind in Cornwall. Funds raised by Invictus Atlantic will go directly toward expanding the Trust’s reach, supporting initiatives like travel grants for families, innovative mental health facilities, and educational campaigns to destigmatise mental health struggles among young people.
Why This Journey Aligns With IG’s Purpose
At Inspirational Group, our purpose is clear: leadership for a better tomorrow. This means supporting people and communities to grow, endure, and thrive. The Invictus Atlantic campaign perfectly aligns with our BCorp values by addressing a critical societal issue—adolescent mental health—while demonstrating the power of resilience, teamwork, and purpose-driven action.
The parallels between rowing across the Atlantic and leading in today’s complex world are striking:
- Resilience: Like the Invictus Atlantic crew enduring storms and exhaustion, leaders must navigate uncertainty with strength and adaptability.
- Teamwork: Success depends on unity and collaboration, whether in a boat or a boardroom.
- Purpose: Both the row and our work at IG are driven by a deep sense of responsibility to make a meaningful impact.
