Leadership Development for Women: Inspiring Female Leaders to Reach Their Full Potential
We are committed to working with and for all people – all ages, all genders, all ethnicities – and leadership development for women is a key focus for us. Recently IG’s Nitin Kulkarni interviewed our former client, Manjula Muthukrishnan about Ignite – a specialist development programme for female leaders. It has been incredibly successful in empowering women within a global bank to become better leaders, better followers and better collaborators.

“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Self determination and the power to choose is a well established driver for personal growth and evolution. The underlying theme of the Ignite initiative is to spark our journey towards finding our genius, and not denying ourselves that genius within. It’s a gentle nudge towards stimulating and nurturing our mind to recognize and believe in our uniqueness; and its relevance in the constantly changing management world. It focusses on intent and those small steps that need to be taken now, on building competence and personal capacity, to navigate a leadership landscape with aplomb, rigor and conviction.
Leadership development for women should include leading self as well as leading others – the Ignite workshop moves from :
- knowing who you are (clarity on values/purpose/goals)
- knowing why you are here ( passion & purpose)
- thinking independently/creatively/innovatively (of self & others)
- being accountable to self & the organization (no hedging & dodging; a distinct personal brand)
- nurturing relationships & networks (learning continuously & collaboratively towards shared aspirations)taking action – think/feel/do (finding the balance)
- And in the process being ready for challenges; practicing leadership and most importantly daring to dream.
The endeavor throughout being to encourage each to find abundant ways of accomplishment through insight, achievement, connections and consequent empowerment. The stronger their identity, the more aware individuals appear to be of their strengths/aspirations/potential and the stronger their self-esteem.
Ignite goes beyond giving yourself permission to succeed – it builds individual expertise & credibility through intentional action; and also creates a team of empowered women leaders ready to mentor & coach the next layer.
Where leadership development for women is concerned, clearly the credo is, “if it has to be me, it’s up to me.”
